Who gets keys?

Stream keys are available for registered (free) and paid accounts. Unregistered users use the Web Studio without keys.

Managing keys

Create keys in the Dashboard to separate projects or sources.
Rotate publish keys if a key leaks; watch links still work.
Never paste keys into public chat or streams.

Key formats

Meshcast separates publishing credentials from public playback identifiers.

Publish Key (pk_...): secret. Use this in OBS, SRT, RTMP, WHIP, Streamlabs, FFmpeg, or other encoders.
Stream ID (st_...): public and stable. Use this in watch links, embed links, WHEP playback, and HLS playback.
Legacy Key (live_...): older keys may still work for compatibility, but new setup should use the Publish Key and Stream ID fields shown in the Dashboard.

Common mistake

If OBS, SRT, or WHIP says the key is invalid, check that you used the pk_... Publish Key. A public st_... Stream ID is for viewers and will be rejected for publishing.
